Dual Olympian Amie Thompson announces retirement

Perth – May 2022

Artistic Swimming WA would like to congratulate Amie Thompson on her recent retirement from the Australian National Artistic Swimming Team. Amie started artistic swimming at age 12 with the Sydney Emeralds Synchronised Swimming club. Amie moved to Perth in 2014 to join the WA squad and represented both West Coast Splash and SupaNova at several Australian National Championships.

Amie has represented Australia at two Olympic Games and five World Championships throughout her incredible career; and is known for her creativity and artistic strengths as well as her strong leadership skills.

“I’m so proud of everything I have achieved in my sporting career and am so excited to see what the next chapter of my life will bring! This decision was not taken lightly, after synchro being my entire life for over a decade.”

Amie has taken on a role alongside Rose Stackpole as the State High Performance Coach and will continue to be involved in the future of the sport.

Artistic Swimming WA congratulates Amie on her outstanding career. We wish her all the best for the future in her new role at Artistic Swimming WA.
