Synchro WA is absolutely delighted to officially welcome Katanning Aquatic Sports Incorporated (KAS) as an affiliated club of Synchro WA. Located in the Great Southern Region of Western Australia, KAS is offering a second season of artistic swimming, and its first season as an incorporated club.
According to Serena Sandwell, KAS’s President, “KAS was formed to offer more water-based options at the Katanning Aquatic Centre, with synchro being our main sport. We were lucky enough to begin with Ms Lesley Balinski who was one of the founders of Gnowangerup Synchro so that we had some experience to get us underway, and some very determined athletes who keep coming back no matter how many times they turn blue!”
Ms Sandwell added, “The new club is running both a Junior and a Masters program and have shown growth in our Junior numbers, along with coaches working towards their Level 1 Coaching Accreditation. We thank SynchroWA for all their support, especially the September holiday Regional Athletes Camp. At the moment the only thing slowing us down is the pool temperature!”
Synchro WA Chairperson Ms Nikki Eidne said, “The establishment and growth of artistic swimming in Regional centres has been a priority for Synchro WA over the past 2 years. We are very excited that Katanning Aquatic Sports has been established as a club that offers ongoing artistic swimming lessons to members of their local community. This is a fantastic for our sport. We wish Katanning Aquatic Sports our very best wishes and look forward to a continuing to support them into the future.”
