Synchro WA to grow its participation base in Geraldton

February 2021

Synchro WA has been provided the opportunity to grow artistic swimming in the WA Regional communities through the Active Regional Communities (ARC) grant that aims to increase opportunities for regional people to participate in sport and active-recreation activities in regional Western Australia.

The funding provided has enabled Synchro WA to host Come and Try Sessions in Geraldton on the 30th and 31st of January as well as provide coaching support to the Geraldton based coach Jadine Priolo.

Jadine currently coaches AquaStART classes, an artistic swimming program in partnership with the Royal Life Saving Society WA at the Geraldton Aquarena. She also coaches a team of competitive swimmers who will be competing at Synchro WA’s first Regional Competition due to be held in Perth on the 20th February 2021.

Synchro WA would like to thank the Department of Local Government and Cultural Industries through the ARC grant in making it possible for further development of artistic swimming in Geraldton.

According to Camille Claudino, Synchro WA’s Regional Development Officer,

“I am very proud of the progress made in artistic swimming in Geraldton thus far and I am looking forward to further visits to develop more coaches and programs. We are hoping to get a second coach for the team to support its continued growth.”

“Jadine, the coach in Geraldton is very dedicated and has great support from the local community. Synchro WA is committed to help Geraldton to establish their first ever artistic swimming club” said Camille.

The Come and Try over the weekend hopefully sparked more interest amongst the Geraldton community to participate in artistic swimming. To register for the AquaStART Program in Geraldton visit https://royallifesavingwa.com.au/training/aquastart/c-25/p-252574
